How did you get started on your current career track?

I would say, I started modeling just as a hobby. My best friend enjoys photography, so it all started from there. We’d go and have photoshoots just for fun. And eventually she entered artwork into contests, and I became more serious with modeling as well. Now a days, I do alot of Fashion and Editorial modeling for magazines. Often times I also model for car shows because they’re honestly a lot of fun, and you get to meet a lot of great people.

What gives you the most satisfaction as an artist?

0913featmodel07The ability to express myself and be a different character through modeling. When I am modeling, I don’t necessarily have to always be “Julia Mei”. I can be whoever I wish to be. I am able to become a completely different character based on the theme of the photo shoot, and I believe that that is what I enjoy the most about modeling.

What motivates or inspires you in your work?

Many things inspire me in my work. There are always going to be better models out there in the world, and I believe that the confidence and grace these models present themselves with is what motivates me the most.

Do you have a personal work philosophy?

I’d rather regret the things I’ve done than regret the things I haven’t done.

If you weren’t doing this, what could you see yourself doing?

If I wasn’t modeling, to be honest I could see myself working in a retail store just like any other 20 year old out there, still in school. When I think about it, I feel so lucky to be able to model, and meet so many great people and be blessed with such opportunities.

collageredframeFINALWhat are you working on right now?

I have a workshop coming up on the 21st of September, and some collaboration work with NuVisionz and other groups as well. Stay tuned !

What do you first notice about a guy?

IMG_7874rwBefore speaking with them? A nice smile.

What gets you interested?

1009819_10201577087051629_842677903_nA sense of humor is extremely important.

What keeps you interested?

A witty man who challenges my way of thinking.

What’s your number one deal breaker (either on first meeting or in a relationship)?

Hording.

IMG_7455rwTo stay in shape, what’s your basic diet look like?

I feel blessed to have a fast metabolism so I often eat whatever I want. However, I do watch myself. Yes you can have that burger, but try to eat a bit more healthy on the next meal. And maybe run a few laps once you get home, or hop on that elliptical.

What sort of fitness plan, if any, do you follow?

389430_366609373421088_359065504_nI don’t have a solid fitness plan. I make a trip to the gym whenever I feel like I need one.

What’s next for you? What’s your next big idea or project?

I haven’t really touched base with anything that has to do with graffiti or skater looks.. I’d like to try them out. I’ve always been interested in the whole Fitted cap, High tops, Skate board look.

Favourite workout tip: Flex your stomach whenever you remember.

One thing guys should know when talking to a beautiful woman: Just go up to her and say hi already!

1011077_629577467054914_117706397_nAbsolute WORST experience on set/shoot:

I believe every model has had an unpleasant experience with an unprofessional photographer. You could be extremely skilled at photography, with multiple degrees under your belt. But what differentiates a good photographer from a great one is their attitude. If I take a photo shoot seriously, I expect you to do the same. After all, you’re paying for it.

One quirky thing about you that never turns up in interviews:

I get easily upset when I’m video gaming and someone interrupts me. 🙁 Especially when they cause me to die.
